So today I went to my fish store, which is very nice, to get my female Platy i needed. I go there and find one i like then i look at the 2 fancy guppies that have been there for weeks. No one ever buys them and im quite fond of them. Then i notice some movement on the bottom and behold its a baby fancy guppie! I told the owner and he said Dont woory, they'll eat it! Well i felt bad and i liked the guppies so i asked him for it and he gave it to me for free. So now i have a baby fancy guppie! and a platy.....

Aww, you're taking after me. :p I've saved numerous babies from tanks where they were going to be eaten. My favorite was the Tiger Barb tank.

Anyway, good for you for saving him/her, and good luck!

Congrats on your finds!
I too have asked for the little remaining fry in store tanks. I'm being alot more cautious now when i save fry ever since i ended up adopted 3 mysterious cichlid fry that grew speedily and ended up being convicts(no wonder they were free!).

Lol, we got a baby Hongi for free from our LFS because they dint know it was there! Hes all grown up now though!

its nice to hear that people save the little ones right? if i owned a fish store i would keep them alive to sell later. woudlnt that make sense?

Yes. But some fish stores just have so many fish, they don't care what one little baby will bring them in money. Livebearers don't tend to fetch much money anyway, unless they are rarer.

Man, I wish my petstore would give out babies for free! They just scoop em up and put them in a breeding net, probably to sell for later most likely. Oh well, I got enough now LOL. Good luck with the little one!
