Sitting down to breakfast yesterday morning and all of a sudden I heard a splash. Now I have some really crazy corys so my first thought was one of them had lept out of the water and the splash was him landing again.
I finished my breakfast then thought better feed the cichlids and as I always do waited for them all to come and great me but my male Fuelborni wasn't there
I lifted every peice of rock out of the tank but still no sign ... then panic set in as I put one and one together and realised it was him that had splashed..OUT OF THE TANK
The tank is built into an alcove and has a small gap around the back and sides (for access to cables and filters. I got the tourch and after about 5 minites found him wedged not moving. I quickly put him in a tub with some of his own water and he started to move, slowly at first but gradually he became more active. I washed all the dust off him and held him in the flow created by my airstone to clear any dust that may have got into his gills. I let him go back into the tank and he has been fine since
The moral of this adventure is to make sure you have a cover glass (which I sorted out that day).
