Hi everyone, sorry to ask a stupid question, but here goes...

Have a marine tank I setup just over a year ago with a healthy sized maroon clown and a yellow tang. They are in approx 100gallon with an external fluval fx5 and a few powerheads (have setup a tunze classic skimmer in there a couple of time but didn't really draw anything, so left off - will setup again soon though). Never went down the route of LR, but went for ocean (about 50KG) which is covered in green algae. I use RO water and last week introduced a Flame Angel and a small Powder Blue Tang. A bit of a squabble but settling down ok now.

I now want to get Living Rock into it without killing off my stock, so can I put say the whole 50kg in or will it completely throw the system and kill my fish. Or should I just put in a few KG at a time and after a while remove the filter media in the fx5.

Have been offered the chance to buy about 50kg for about 200pounds - hence the asking???

I pressume cured will be the only option, but I prefer to hear it from the ones that know!!!

Thanks in advance :)

Les

cure it in separate container no matter what, its the better safe than sorry thing.

Stick it in another container with salt water and ideally some powerheads to keep good flow over it, then just monitor the water, when ammonia and nitrites disappear ideally give it another week or two to make sure then transfer to your main tank.

If you have high Ammonia/nitrite spikes during the process then you might want to do full/partial water changes to try and preserve any life on the rocks.
