for breeding you're going to want a heater (from what i've read) because to actually get them to want to breed, their water should be around 80-85F (correct me if i'm wrong, this is what i've read).
minimum for just keeping them i believe is 75F
Yep. For breeding you want the temp over 80 and it should stay a constant temp. Any fluctuations are not good.
For general keeping I wouldn't keep a betta under 75, like tropical said.
ok thanks.does anybody know how to keep my bedroom warm? I live in 'sunny' england and its not that warm here.It has been lovely though the last few days.
in that case a heat mat, although they can easily live at room temp for a short time, you can put them near the airing cupboard at night when its colder
The heat mats that you use for reptiles are good, but the temps can get kind of high. They sell thermastats for them, though, so you can regulate the temperature.
how hot can they get though? will i have to keep turning it on and off?the thermostats are no good in water are they?I would buy one to check it out but there exspensive. It it worth getting one?Id get 47x11inch one though.
so forgot to ask if they had a temperature control thingy so you can put it on a certain temperature
