I'm looking for an item I think you get it at lowe's I heard someone talk about it in a post. It's a barrel shaped and has no lid. I think they were planning on using it to use for betta fry. I want to use it for adult male guppys for selective breeding. Can anyone help me out on this? And would this be good for the male guppys if I keep it clean?

I don't know of the item your talking about(can you describe it in more detail?) but if you're looking into selective breeding for guppys i would do this(i am running a similar project into improving guppy imune systems);
Buy 4 10gal tanks and equipment(expensive i know but it will pay off in time especially if you are gonna sell the offspring) and cycle them; 1 for the male guppys, 1 for the females, 1 as a breeding tank and 1 as a fry tank.
The first 2 tanks will just serve to separate the genders so you can have more control over who breeds with who. If you want a specific male guppy to breed with a specific female this is where the 3rd tank somes in handy; to keep it cycled when there are no guppys breeding in it i would put some corys in it(this also goes for the fry tank), when you have selected the pair you want to breed i would leave them together in the tank for about 2weeks.
After the 2weeks move the male guppy back to the male guppy tank and then use the breeding tank as a santuary for the pregnant female to continue her pregnancy in peace. When the fry are born you can move them to the fry tank; alternatively you can use a breeding net in the breeding tank to raise them in but proper fry tanks are much better for large numbers of fry and are easier to maintain in genural if you do have them than bothering with cleaning loads of breeding nets.
The fry survival rate also tends to be higher when you have large numbers of them(say 40+) than in breeding nets too which are only realy suited for 20 max amount of fry at most in a single net(even then you will still have to find a bigger place for them once they start out growing the net).
Hope this info helps you alittle :)

The only problem I have is where to put the tanks. I would have to pretty much get rid of my computer to make room for them. I will definently try that tho it is a great idea thanks.
