Hi,

I Keep Malawi Cichlids. The tank is well stocked and is running two external power filters. Ammonia, Nitrite is Zero, Ph is perfect, but my Nitrate is 75-100. Water changes do lower it but not enough. I also us Nitra-Zorb pouches in both my filters, but it doesn't remove it.

Is there anything anyone can suggest that may help???

Thanks

Bigger and more frequent water changes is really the best way to go. How big is your tank, and how much are you changing and how often?
Test the nitrates from the tap to get an idea of what you should be aiming for.

Adding some floating plants [hornwort?] may help too.

Its a 240L and I change about 50L a week religously!

The nitrate from tap cant be that high as my amazon tank has zero nitrate.....may just be the lack of plants in my malawi set-up with the added factor of the tank being stocked to its max. Malawi tend to destroy plants so its hard to keep them alive, I'll just throw a load in and see how they respond.

if your going down the planted route try java moss as that i`ve just learned soaks up loads of nitrates, and also if its tied to rocks ect then it may be harder for them to destroy...

just an idea

You might need to up the frequency of water changing. With it at max capacity try doing 40% twice a week.
