I'm planning out a 30 litre planted tank however the lighting is only 0.27 watts per litre. Will thins be okay for Java Fern, Anubias nana and some of the other hardy plants?

Also another question. I'm thinking about getting some Neritina natalensis snails when the tank is mature. But is it true that their lifespan is greatly reduced in freshwater? If so, by how much?

Thanks.

If my math is correct that's somewhere in the realm of 0.85 watts per US gallon for us US folk.

You should be perfectly fine for the hardy low light plants. Java fern and moss will work. Many of the Anubias species of plants will work too. Cryptocorynes should work well too.

I cannot offer any advice on the snails. Sorry about that one. Perhaps the invertebrate section can offer more specific advice.

Ah, thanks mtv8dmarine. Btw, will I be able to also house Vallisneria tortifolia with this level of light? Or is that going over the limit?

Thanks for the advice.

I don't know much about the Vallisneria tortifolia. From the little bit I've been able to pull up it looks like that type of vallis tends to take more light than most others. The only thing I can find that mentions how much light exactly is from here and it states a high light level. If that's truly the case than I would say the lighting you have would be insufficient but perhaps there are other listing out there that may say differently. Tropica.com is not coming up for me right now but you may want to use their search option in the top right of the main page with the genus name and see if it pulls anything up.
