Hi there!
Last Friday, I got two guppies and one sunburst platy for my b-day, and I'm loving them!
They also gave me a large fishbowl, figurine and gravel as well.

Eventually, I will move them to a large tank, but for the time being, I'll keep them in here.

My question is, how often should I clean the fishbowl, and do I do a full clean or just some of the water?
My friend told me I should take some of the water and the fish and put them in a separate container, and then clean it once a week, and I shuold empty all the water out, and clean everything including the bowl, gravel, and decoration, and put fresh dechlorinated water. What do you all think?

I dont' want these to die anytime soon.. I've become so attached to them :)

I also notice my Sunburst platy spits out the flakes sometimes, I grind the flakes, but I think I should grind it finer, no?

THANKS!
JP

Do you have a filter?

How big is the bowl in litres?

Not sure how big the bowl is.. I'll hve to get back to you on that... but there is no filter.
I plan on adding a mini bubbler, oxygen stone, and mini florcent light too.

Filter is 110% essential if you dont want them to die rather quikly.

that may not be strictly the case. there's only 3 small fishes in there so the bio-load wouldnt be so great. frequent water changes (once every 2-3 days) would get rid of all that is supposed to be done by bio filter and silphoning (probably everyday) would get rid of any waste. however yes all is will be better with a filter.

apart from that, an airstone is very much neccessary, and there should be one present asap

Thanks soo much everyone for the feedback!!

Just to confirm...
I should get all of the following:
(1) an air pump,
(2) a tube,
(3) an air stone (i was actually hoping to get a small bubble wand or something instead, so the fishies can play, is this ok instead?),
(4) a filter (under gravel i guess? or any other suggestions?)

Thanks again!... I also can't wait to get a big tank later on.. but for the time being I gotta do with this 4L bowl.

JP

4L, not good.

I'd say 5G and that's if you don't plan on getting anymore fish.

5G = about 20L.

Filtering a 4L bowl won't be easy.
