I recently bought a marineland bio-wheel power filter penguin 150

It makes a lot of noise at start up but then quites down a bit after a few seconds. But it still makes too much noise to keep on while im in the room.
Ive tried cleaning the motor thing and adjusting it when i place it together.

Are there any ways to quite the noise?

When ive set a new tank up its been noisy for the first few days then quietened down but some people put an air pump on some sort of foam dont know wether you could do that, you could always try going to where u bought it from and ask them?

See i tried the foam thing but its not like the filter vibrating against the glass. i think its the propeller. I would go back to the store but out of some crazed reasoning i bought it in another state!

But whats this air pump idea?

When i said air pump i meant people wrap bubblewrap or foam around an air pump to quieten it,
but if u have the money u could get an air pump and airstone then make a slit in a sponge shove the airstone in and voila you have a filter,
or you could buy a filter that fits on the end of an air pump.

But i havnt had any problems with my filters so please dont take my word as gospel.
Hope you get it sorted soon. :D
