we've been hatching brine shrimp eggs at work for a while but i have a spare tank so i thought i would give it a go myself. i have a 9L tank here and it says on the packet to add 4 tbsp of salt per 3.8L of water. i added about 9 tbsp of salt last night when i set it up. is this right?? these things confuse me sometimes lol

it also says to add aeration so i added a small airstone which has kept then eggs suspended. some are on the bottom but i think thats cause i overdid the eggs a bit lol theres a surprisingly large number of eggs in those teeny tiny spoons hehe anyhoo i set the heater to 30C. it says on the packet 29-32C but my heater tends to run about a degree above what you set it at so i thought 30 was a happy medium.

it then says to wait twenty four hours and then you can use the baby brine shrimp. only problem is it doesnt look like they have hatched. they look just the same as they did last night. have i done something wrong??

i also have this other stuff here i bought home from work. its micro food and artemia. can i use the artemia as food for the BBS?? if not, what pray tell do i feed the little fellas? i want to use them when they are a bit bigger, not babies.

as for the micro food, im not too sure how that works ???

im hoping someone here has used these things. they are red jungle brand from the u.s.

any help would be appreciated
thanks
em :)

it also says to add aeration so i added a small airstone which has kept then eggs suspended. some are on the bottom but i think thats cause i overdid the eggs a bit lol theres a surprisingly large number of eggs in those teeny tiny spoons hehe anyhoo i set the heater to 30C. it says on the packet 29-32C but my heater tends to run about a degree above what you set it at so i thought 30 was a happy medium. - THE AIRSTONE SHOULD BE SITTING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE TANK TO ENSURE THAT ALL THE EGGS ARE SUSPENDED AND MOVING IN THE WATER, THE HEAT SOUNDS EXCESSIVE TURN IT DOWN A LITTLE TO AROUND 27C AS THE TANK IS SO SMALL, DO YOU HAVE A THERMOMETER IN THERE CAUSE THE HEAT COULD BE COOKING THE EGGS BEFORE THEY HATCH ?

it then says to wait twenty four hours and then you can use the baby brine shrimp. only problem is it doesnt look like they have hatched. they look just the same as they did last night. have i done something wrong?? - YOU HAVE TO TAKE OUT THE AERATION (STONE) AND LET THE EGGS SETTLE (FLOAT OR REST ON THE BASE OF THE CONTAINER), THE ARTEMIA WILL SWIM TOWARDS ANY LIGHT THERE IS AND THEY SHOULD BE A BRIGHT ORANGE IN COLOUR, IF YOU AREN'T SEEING ANYTHING AFTER DOING THIS THEN THE EGGS HAVEN'T HATCHED OUT YET OR AS I SAID EARLIER YOU MAY HAVE COOKED THEM. TRY RUNNING THE AIRSTONE A BIT LONGER.

WHICH BY THE WAY ARE ARTEMIA SO SAME THING, MICRO FOOD WOULD BE THE FIRST THING YOU FEED THE BRINESHRIMP IF YOU WERE GOING TO GROW THEM ON FOR A DAY OR SO BEFORE FEEDING THEM TO YOUR FISH.

CHECK OUT THESE SITES ABOUT RAISING BRINESHRIMP, BY THE WAY THE TANK IS NOT A SUITABLE PLACE TO RAISE OR HATCH BRINESHRIMP ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO WATER SUSPENSION WHEN HATCHING -

YOU'LL NEED TO READ UP ON YOUR SUBJECT A BIT MORE IF YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO HATCH AND RAISE BRINESHRIMP SUCCESSFULLY, AND GOOD LUCK :good:
