5 zebra fis - fast cool colourful fish.
10 Neons 8 red and blue 2 black and white. Colour!
Opaline gouramis - centre peice fish
2 swordies- Just for babies and looks.
3 mollies - Again babies and looks.
5 cherry barbs - colour.
any middle fish you can recommend preferably just 1 medium sized 1. Quite colourful.

Okay so what would you thinks best?
1. Up current stock
2. Up some current stock and some new.
3. Wta i listed their.
4. Or just all new fish.

(I'll be getting my q/hospital tank up at the weekend and guys wish me luck on the sponsored walk at school - 15 miles! Ahh -faints-) oh

And bad news on the 6 foot tank i was getting (got a 7- in maths english and science! Go me max grades i could get!) Its won't fit anywhere so i'm gonna have to get a 5ft by 2 by 2 could i still keep an oscar in this?

Lucy (sorry for the long post) :P

mollies, you will need the ratio of 3:1 as per usual and probably the same with swords, so you need to do more research on the fish you want to keep. the cherry barbs will fin nip the gourami

Well i'm getting 2 female and 1 male. And i'll get another female sword. I can't afford that much also what else do you recommend then except for cherry barbs?

well, dont just get 2 females and 1 male because you cant afford it becuase you will only lose the female from being harrased. if you cant afford it dont start it! wait untill you have enough money rather than cutting corners. instead of cherry barbs get so halequins or something, they look nice in a large shoal. and ditch the 2 black neons and stick with 10 blue and red it will look better. also what size is the tank?

yeas but that may not be the same this time, i have lost lots of females in the past due to harrasing. what about a ram? but do some research on it

Well i considered getting a bleu ram and my LPS said that why not go for more peaceful fish to add to my very peaceful tank hehe. Also i was told they would get aggressive when breeding and i wasn't sure if i could get just 1 so i got corys instead.

Apparently like soft and acidic water. Mines hard and alkaline 8.0 - 8.2.

oh well thats that out of the window. how many litres or gallons is the tank?

I see no problems with the cherry barbs and any of the other fish you have chosen Lucy.

If you really wanted a ram, blue or bolivian, then yes they prefer soft acidic water 6.6 - 7.2 but providing they are acclimatised slowly or have been tank breed in the local area (most are) then they may be ok in your higher ph. Mine were absolutely fine in my 7.8ph. But you will need to keep a close eye on the nitrAtes as they need to be 20ppm or below, which can mean more water changes.

Kribs I would avoid, if you get a male/female combo your other fish would be in trouble, as they can be very aggressive when breeding.

A single ram would be fine, they dont need to be in pairs, if your worried about aggression, keep with a female duo if you want more than one.

Hope that helps Lucy :)

Edit to add: You can keep a single Oscar in a 5 x 2 x 2 but it limits what you can keep with it.

Can i get a single blue male ram? How long should i let him acclimitise in the bag for when i got him (probably a long time). Also i've heard rams are quite easily umm how do say it killed by like bad water etc.

Yay for the oscar tank we're planning on putting it in the h allway bottom of the stairs.
