I've been looking at all the stunning planted tank pictures over the last few weeks & have decided to give it a go with a small 28ltr tank

In the past i've had lots of trouble with plants, I struggle to keep them planted, they come out & float around, then they usually die

I have sand, about an inch, any tips to help me get the plants to stay in there?

i've never used plant food & would prefer not to use CO2, are there any particularly recommended foods & how often do you feed?

I'm planning cherry shrimp in there with maybe a few smaller fish

Here it is this morning, one of my guppies has taken residence to keep the filter cycled

Welcome to Planted!

What is the wattage of the bulb? I'm also sending you a link to PARC

Thank you, I had scanned the pinned info, but couldnt see anything about the actual planting, i'll have another look, see what I can find

The light is a twin lamp 18w, is this suitable?

Sounds like compact flourescents. They are not the best quality lights, but they get the job done. I have 24W over my 8g, and I don't consider it the best of lights.
