Lots Of Females At Lfs

I've never seen so many female bettas! They didn't look in great shape though I tried to count and I think there were about 40 in a tank about 40cm across. There was a large barb in there too, some gobies and shrimps and a few galaxy rasboras. Most of them had dark stripes-did I read somewhere that's a sign of stress? And some looked nipped and some were just lying on the bottom.
Still so pretty though-I want an all female tank!

the lfs near me seem to have lots of girls at the moment, pretty big ones as well...and guess what they have 3 girls and one boy to a tank.....bangs head on wall in utter despair

wheras we have shortage of females, most oet shops havent had them for 4 months now
