Hello, I have been to pick up 30 odd mixed cichlids today (jade eyes, geophagus, huge jag, quetzals, salvini) that were being kept together. They are all settling in ok but many of them have cloudy eyes, nipped fins, blood in their fins, wounds etc. Just wondering what the best course of action would be/ treatments reccomended etc. Thanks

One of the 12" quetzals is dead. Any ideas? I have put some tonic salt in.

I don't know much about SA cichlids. But that doesn't sound like a good mix. Especially if the tank isn't big enough.
It sounds like there has been a fair amount of fighting. And the fish are probably stressed, and therefore suseptable to all sorts of diseases.

Cloudy eyes and red streaks in the fins sounds like they were kept in poor conditions and are all suffering from bacterial infections, the fin hemoraghing is a bad sign unfortunately. Have you still got them all together? if so I would split them up into as many tanks as you can, lots of water changes and try an antibacterial medication.

Could be a problem with old tank syndrome as well. If these were kept in really bad condition previously. Also, I'm assuming your tank was cycled?
