Today the last of my fish died, due to a cycling tank and ich. Where do I go from here? I eventually want to try fish again, but I'll be sure the tank is fully cycled before I do that.

Should I change virtually all the water? Keep adding ammonia to the current water to get it cycled, then change it? Other? I seem to be at the stage where it's slowly processing ammonia, and maybe processing a little nitrite, but not enough to keep the nitrite from rising with my two fish.

Hi,

I would suggest that you should buy a bottle of ammonia and finish your cycle fishlessly (i don't think that's a word, but you know what i mean).

Make sure the ammonia has no dies or surfactants in it. Ideally, you want a solution consisting of ammonia and water only. Chleating agents are ok. If you are unsure, shake the bottle. If it foams up, it's no good.

Once you have your ammonia, post again and we'll guide you through it.

I don't know your location, but if you are in the UK, the best place to source it seems to be Homebase. It's called 'Household Ammonia' and will be found amongst the cleaning products.

Sorry to hear you lost your fish. :rip:

Regards
