one of my new female siamese fighters died today. She looked unwell yesterday just as i was going to work. I removed her to a small container but she died when i got home this morning. I thought it looked like dropsy as i've seen that in one of my koi carp. She definitely looked ok when i bought her a few days ago.

I'm sorry for your loss :-(

Have you tested the water and done a large water change, just to be on the safe side?

It's always worth doing after unexplained deaths, both to try and found out what happened (the tests) and make sure no other fish might be affected (the water change).

So sorry for your loss...:rip:

Agree with fluttermoth as she is a fishkeeping genius who posseses vast knowledge I would never question.:teacher:

Hi all,
I checked all water parameters and they are all fine. i did a water change as soon as i could today. Its my first fish i've lost so maybe i was just unlucky with it. Will check parameters again tomorrow and probably do another water change, just to be on the safe side. The other siamese looks fine and is eating well.
Thank you all for your input.

Quick question. How new is the "new" fish. I've bought sick fish before that die shortly after for seemingly no reason.

Secondly, is there any chance any contaminants got in that wouldn't show on a regular water test?

Hi,
good news all other fish seemed fine today. I've had the fish for about a week. Don't think any contaminants could of got in tank.
Thank you all for your help.
