Well, I lost one of my new Ottos today to what I think is just New Tank Syndrome and the fact that they aren't the hardiest fish to begin with. I had designs on showing you guys a picture of him, but my internet is being horrifically slow atm and I couldnt get it hosted yet. When I do though I'll toss it up here.

Long story short though I just saw him hiding inside my fake pirate ship not moving, shook the ship and when he didnt move well... He showed no signs of disease whatsoever. No clamped fins, no discolorations, no strange feces, not flicking on objects, no strange behavior, no difficulty swimming, no marks on his body of any kind, and the other fish hadnt even had a chance to nip at his body yet, so this must have been a recent death. His gills looked to be a perfectly normal pink, no inflamation or anything. Water stats are 7.8, 0, 0, 40 at 76 degrees farenheight. He didnt deteriorate or anything that I could notice, just came home today and he was laying there dead. Stiff like he had rigormortis setting in. He was also the largest and clearly oldest of the Ottos which I understand are all wild-caught.

I feed them a quarter of a broken up algae wafer on an every-other day basis (although I only fed them twice total since I had them in 4 days). It takes them a while to eat the wafers so I assume I'm not starving them thats for sure.

All other fish in the tank appear 100% normal, lively, and unharmed. With this purely isolated case I'm going to have to conclude that it was just a case of new tank syndrome with an older fragile fish who was at the end of his life anyways. Unless you guys know of anything I should look for I'm just gonna proceed under that assumption until I see anything else out of the ordinary. Please let me know what you guys think, your oppinions are always welcomed. Hopefully I'll have pics by tonight

I think the problem is that since the tank isn't established yet they died because I belive they need a tank that is estalished thats like been running for 6+ months.
