Fish Fanatic
For the past few weeks, i've had one of my WCMMs who kept getting skinnier and skinnier... I thought he was getting bullied by the others, so I sometime isolated him from them to feed him. When I dropped some flake above him, he'd go for it, but seemed to kinda miss his bite and then just ignore it afterward.
His colors were not very nice...he wasn't getting transparent, but just didn't have any glow like the others. Like a dull brown with pale fins.
In the past few days, he's been hanging by himself in a back corner near the top of the water, not really swimming, just having some kind of spasm every 2 seconds or so to basically stay in place. This morning, I saw him laying on a suction handle for the heater and figured he was dead. I netted him and dropped him in the toilet and he actually moved again (doh!). I figured he was just about to die anyway, so I flushed him
Every other fish in the tank (5 more wcmm's and 4 ottocinclus) are doing good as far as I can tell. One wcmm even looks pregnant. Water parameters are perfect too 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 5 nitrate, ph 7.4. I had started with 3 wcmm's and then got 3 more once I thought I was cycled (wasn't quite, but got there real quick after that). This one was one of the latest 3 (I think), so I've only had him for a month maybe.
Only thing different that I can see is that i've had trouble keeping water temps at 24C as usual because it's been pretty warm this month and room temp went up to 28C and water at least 27C. I know it's high for wcmm's, but they were raised at 26C at the LFS.
Anything I could have done?
