HI, I lost one of my platies today and now my remaining platies are either hiding behind the filter or staying in a plant. I dunno what to do.

Right first of what are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, what size tank, how many fish and which type.

ok i've got a 24 inch tank. My fish are 3 guppies, 6 neons and WAS 3 platies but now i have 3.

Last week i tested my water and got an ok ammonia reading, a zero nitrite reading, very low nitrate reading and a highish PH 7.8.

I've got some salt in my tank to treat whitespot and my temp is 27. I've also started to get brown algae growing in my tank.

Turn temp up to 30 with the whitespot, it could be the treatment and the desease it's self i'm afraid, good luck.

The neons are scaless the salt will kill them. The ph is a little high also. If I were you I would start by doing a water change of 30 percent or so. See if this helps mabey add some melafix.

I lost another platy. I'm only left with one now! The remaining platy is hiding in the plants again now.

I bought some internal bacteria med as some of the fish seem to have white/sandy coloured faeces and i'd heard that that could be a sign of internal bacteria.

P.S my platy and one of my larger guppys that hangs around the platy seem to have both stopped eating!!!

If the fish have stopped eating it's not sounding good i'm afraid, don't change meds always be certain when you change that they are suffering from that desease you are medicating for.

yeah they do. They're just sensitive to meds.

I'm not 100% sure its a bacterial infection but other than that i have no idea!

I just tried to feed my platy and she ate some food so its looking better.
My Guppy didn't come up for food and is still just staying at the bottom of the tank.
