Fish Aficionado
Seems that I have lost the smaller of my two clown fish. He was there yesterday and eating ok, didnt have any marks on him and seemed to be normal. Today he has vanished.
All other fish look ok, no signs of white spot or abnormal behaviour, no ragged fins or anything. Water parameters seem ok, no ammonia or nitrite, SG is 1.025 which it normally is, barely detectable levels of nitrate and no detectable levels of phosphate.
The only thing I can think of is that both the bigger clown and the royal gramma have been chasing him off any time he came to the left hand side of the tank so maybe he was just stressed?
Anyone got any suggestions on what I should do or look out for? Im watching the other fish for obvious signs of infection or illness but they have all looked perfectly healthy.
I hate losing fish but hate it even more when there is no obvious reason for it. The only other thing I can think of is that I do get a fair amount of evaporation on this tank so maybe the SG is swinging enough to be a problem (I believe clown fish are particularly sensitive to changes in SG and as he was quite small it could have been a problem?). Not much I can do for this at the moment but I'm trying to pick up a second hand auto top up unit to stop this.
