He's isolated in a small betta/lfs/container (not the small cups, the bigger ones) and I put in some pieces of anti-fungus from Junle-tropics 'fungus-care'

He is swimming lopsided and is having trouble breathing because he is floating to the side...

he is floating at the top, not at the bottom

ph 7.0
nitrites/nitrates/ammonia 0 ppm
temperature is fine
water change 8 hours ago... so its fine

no trouble eating either, he is just swimming lopsided and I am worried...

advice anybody?

sounds like it - but he also has some cotton stuff growing as well.. very light... but it's there...

also I have been feeding him a little too much, so I'll lay off... but we'll see :(

his body - just one one side... not on his fins or face/mouth...

spreading, its on both sides now...

bump for my fish

You should also try posting in betta section and even a different forum.
Hope He Gets Better Soon,
Good Luck,
Luke.

I would say try to give him some bettafix. If you can get a hold of that. Also for the swimbladder, give him a cooked pea, and take the outer shell of and feed it to him.

Have you increased aeartion with the med.
If so and he laboured breathing, columnaris, and laying t oneside sadly dosn't sound like he will make it, good luck bless him.

ok well I always watch my bub and I guess I caught the fungus early... Because after a couple hours he stopped swimming to his side. !!!

And layers of the fungus (looked like cottony layers) were floating around in the tank... not on him... and not on his fins...

so I changed the water (it's a small tank - I want that fungusy stuff out of his tank) and applied more anti-fungus from jungle care... and he seems to be doing great...

:D :D :D :D :D

the only issue is that he hasn't pooed... Becuase i think part of his episode was that he is constapated...

I know that cooking a pea is a good idea, then feeding him the inside via toothpick... But how do you cook just one pea... I'm thinking boiling it in a cup of water in a microwave for a minute... any advice...

ps...

YAY my fishy is ok :D

[edit]

pss i will also continue to remove that fungusy growth so it isn't floating around his water

Glad he's on the mend but not out of the woods yet.
Boil a few peas in boiling water for a few minutes, let cool down, pop out of shell, mush between fingers add to his bowl.
Good Luck.

he isn't constipated anymore - he got rid of that horrid poo...

he is doing a lot better. He's still doing his 'feed me' dance... and he looks like he'll be ok... I'll keep you all posted if he changes =\

YAY! A successful betta story! Glad everything is finally working out!
