As the title says its a 20g long tank. While it is cycling Im researching some possibilities.

3 african dwarf frogs
5-7 ghost or amano shrimp
6 zebra danios or neon or pristella tetras
1-Male Betta

This is a planted tank with high WPG and controlled CO2.. There will obviously still be algae growth so are the shrimp enough to control that or should I look into a bottom dweller?

I found the danios swim towards the top, but what about the neon's and the tetras?

i would do away with the male betta as its a hit or a miss in community tanks same with shrimp they may get eaten just depends.

Swap the betta for a pair of rams (Sorted!) and get a little group of ottos for algae

I was looking at rams but was kind of worried because everything I read says that they are very sensitive to water conditions. I'll definitely look into the ottos. What do you mean by sorted??
I like cichlids and was wondering if there are any besides rams that I could look into for this tank?

piranha_tim - african dwarfs stay in the water.

Plenty of dwarfs
Apisto's (Caucautodies) or how ever you spell it
Bolivian Rams
Blue Rams (can be sensitive if wild caught)
Golden Rams
Keyhole cichlids
and a few more

Sorted, I meant like done, finished, once you swap them around finito! :D

and instead of shrimp and frogs, id get a nice shoal of 8 cory, the smaller type. Maybe Peppered corys or even a shoal of 10 pgymy

I like the shrimp and dwarf frogs in there for contrast... I think this is my revised list, let me know if the numbers are okay cause I think I might have gotten greedy:

3 african dwarf frogs
5-7 shrimp (amano, ghost, or cherry depending on whats available at the lfs)
6 tetras (neon or pristella)
6 zebra danios
3 otos
2 dwarf cichlids (German gold ram or Bolivian ram)

Are 3 ottos enough for them or should I have more? I like both the danios and tetras in there but if fish need to be removed Id rather it be one of those. I want the fish to school so are those numbers enough for each species?

Looks good. I'd do away with the frogs as they prefer more stagnant, shallow water because they go up for air and current stresses them out. And add 3 more cories for a total of 6 as they are very social. Also, don't add the cories until the tank matures. That gives time for the algae and other microorganisms to flourish for them to eat. They do best in established planted tanks.

Thats another thing I wanted to ask about... What order should I add these in?
