The design looks very good, but one suggestion I would offer is to avoid the use of mdf for the shelves, especially on top of the stand. It's inevitable that at some point during the tank maintenance that you will splash some water on it, and mdf is not water-friendly.

Agreed, no MDF. Use 1" ply instead. Where will this mammoth tank be located? At that size you need to consider house framing...

My current 42" 55g US tank is in a MDF stand and hood and have had no problems (brought 7 years ago sencond hand) but then again why risk it ;)

Think may go 30" high making it 214g US

Its going in the room to keep large cats in. Will also entertain the 3 dry cats :p

Got access to a free carpenter so may as well make use of him :lol: :lol:

Not a frame comment however, make sure that you create lots of room between the tank cover and the top of the stand. Running out of room there is a real pain in the tush. Design looks nice and clean. Encourages observers to look at the fish rather than your fine carpentry. :D :D :D :D
Cheers;
