Wow! They are indeed tempting, I'm not that in to Livebearers, but find anything rare exciting, plus I have a tank spare...

Well I decided to bid on them my self.

they come from mexico springs then the centeral area and the water in the springs there is hard due to calcification, They will do fine in any water but if you do have soft water then u need to harden it with coral sand etc etc

Soon it may be a bidding war!

they are nice but i heard they can be quite aggressive, is that true? helter. are they community or not?

No their not community fish, they need a tank to their own.

In a large aquarium then will be fine with mid water fish as these are more of a bottom dweller, and the babies are 8-12mm in size. Thats due to the fact that the mother nusherious the fry like Mammals do.

Thes fish an be nasty to their own wound but once you get a family groupe they will leave the fry alone unless the tank gets over crowed.

I always advise to keep rare livebeares in a tank of their own.

good luck with the auction helter....fingers crossed for you

Tell us how you get on with them ( if you get them... )

I'm quite interested...

I heard they need excellent filtration and become ill very easily...

No their very hardy fish and then for many years wil no problems and only ever use sponge filter's with them

They would be great for me then! :hyper: However, it will be difficult to transport them all the way up to here, back to their roots.....
Don't you know anybody that breeds them here in Mexico? I am not willing to take them out of their natural habitat as they are endangered species.

Fish ark is based in Mexico and has many of the fish of Mexico breeding there and is slowly expanding.

I'll be going there next year as well a quite a few locations looking to see what fish are still there,
