Hi there :) .

Basically, the other day i was looking at my no.1 125gal tank and i thought to myself that all the fish action is at the top of the tank (with the danio's and white cloud mountain minnows) and at the bottom (with the plecs, yoyo loaches, clown loaches etc)- there really doesn't seem to be much going on it the middle of the tank, which isn't great because the tank is not heavily plants or decorated in general at the moment, just has some large round rocks and scattered pieces of driftwood with plants growing on it and a few small plants growing in the white sand of the tank.
So i would really appreciate it if you guys could suggest some good active medium-sized peaceful fish which spend most of their time in the middle of the tank and appreciate a well filtered tank :) ?
I'm considering getting some torpedo/roseline barbs (since the tank has rather strong filtration, i figure they'd enjoy it) but i'm wary about getting them if they're just going to end up swimming about the top level of the tank or something like that etc.

Not too sure i its what your looking for size wise but Bosmani rainbows are a great mid level fish especially the "Blue" Rainbow (Melanotaenia lacustris) they have some fantastic colouration and displays.

This isnt a pic of mine but gives a good insight to how they look (BLUE RAINBOW) mine is very colorfull, depending on his mood he goes from a great dark blue to a turqoise to having a bright orange head and blue body,
Hope this helps a little.

I like Harlequins and i think they tend to stay about the middle a shoal of 10 of them looks nice.

Absolutely agreed  I was going to suggest it, I looked over to my tank and saw my shoal all swimming up and down in the middle and that is where they basically stay, they are hardy and small but colourful and active.
