Hello, i recently posted on the beginner forums about my ADF and my betta (which i gave to my sister as a gift :). SO...i'm thinking of giving him a roomate. The thing is that, right now he is in a litttle one gallon fish bowl, and i'm VERY hesitant to add anything with such small room (even for himself). If i do decide to up the tank (say 2.5-3) what would be good to add, or what could i add even to this bowl?

Thanks alot =)

wait, which one did you give to your sister, the betta or the ADF? that part was a little confusing ;)

um... to keep a betta company - which will really be more for your viewing enjoyment than his, most bettas don't care much about having "friends" - in 1+ gallons, ghost shrimp are always a good choice. they add very little to the bioload, and they are cheap should it turn out that your betta does not like his new companion and happens to kill it (which happens, some bettas are particularly antisocial).

yeah i'm keeping the betta lol! thanks for the advice, i've been reading quite a bit about the shrimp. are they actually fish? they look kind of weird imo but interesting nonetheless

thanks!

no, they aren't fish, they are shrimp!

shrimp are invertebrates like snails, bugs, crabs, etc. but they are fully aquatic and ghosties easy to care for. just drop a little extra food into the bowl/tank and they will snatch it up

Yea, your best bet will be a few ghost shrimp, you could probably get about 3-4 in there and no they arent fish they're small see through shrimp that can help clean your tank but they definately arent a substitution for regular water changes, I'm getting some soon for my betta tanks too but I've had them before so I know about them. They Look like this and grow to about 1 to 1.5 inches.

cool thanks for the replies + pic! i went to the pet store today and i saw the tank with the ad for them but none in there...i asked a salesman and he pulled the plan out and there were tons behind it lol. they were about $.30 a piece here in TX. i might grab some =)

Yea thats how much they are here in VA too, they're 30 cents a piece in my LFS or 3 for $100.

 I was reading really fast and I thought the man had a plan of his tanks....bad head day!
