I have a 20g tank, and I'm looking for a nice foreground plant, something that will 'carpet' the bottom nicely. I was thinking Moneywort but it seems a little tall!

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jordan

I forget the actual WPG, but I know it's right around perfect. There is a sufficient amount of light. :]

I am trying to grow a few types of carpeting plants at the moment, mmm... I still prefer glossostigma elatinoides & Echinodorus quadricostatus. Just my own preference. :)

all my research keeps saying HC 'cuba' is the smallest, and it looks really good. Check it out and see what you think.

We need to know your lighting level, exactly how much light is 'perfect'?

I have a fluorescent bulb, and I believe around 3WPG. I forget the exact wattage of the bulb but I can double check with my dad when he gets back from California.

Cant you just turn the light off and look on the tube and it would say the wattage of the light. Then do the measurements of your tank and work out how my gallons it holds then divide the two numbers :)

If you have the light that came with the tank, you most likely have an 18w tube, which would give you less than 1wpg. You would need to have 60w of lighting to get the 3wpg, which would require a special light fixture.

The bulb doesn't say the wattage on it... But it's called an Eclipse Natural Daylight... It's a fluorescent...

Eclipse hood? What size?

EDIT: The dimensions of the tank will dictate the Eclipse hood you have. Then we can find what wattage that hood uses.

It's one of the wide 20 gallons... W: 31" D: 13" H: 12 3/4"

("D" being the depth, as in from front to back)

My 30 gallon has the same surface area... 30" X 13". So you have an Eclipse 3 hood since that's the only size Eclipse hood that would fit that tank dimensions. An Eclipse 3 has 250 gph and two 24" flourescent tubes (which are 18 watts each). http://marineland.com/products/consumer/con_eclipse.asp ... Those Eclipse systems are really nice setups.

Anyway, 36W / 20 gallons is 1.8WPG

on carpetting plants: Marsilea Hirsuta or *quadrifolia?*

low-light carpetting plants. I'm getting some delivered on Monday/Tuesday!

Hmm... That's not my hood at all. Mine is one bulb straight across. I'm pretty sure mine isn't made by Marineland, I think it's Coralife or something of that nature. My dad gets home from California tomorrow so I'll just ask him when he gets here.
