Looking For A Female Dempsey

Just wondering if anyone knew of a breeder with a good rep where I could find a female jack dempsey, roughly 2" in size? Any help would be appreciated. Being located in the NE US would be a plus

You cant sex them sadly. Even at 6inches they dont show many differences.

well hey, thanks for telling me. I've put two other threads up asking when you can begin to tell the difference between the sexes of these guys and nobody would have an answer. I appreciate it joel

Since your wanting them at 2 inches why don't you just get a few of them and wait to see if and pair off or breed. ( i take it thats why you want a female). here there only 2 bucks a pop so thats 5 for 10 and there would have to be a female in there some where , hopefully.

sorry but you can sex them. The males dorsal fin sweeps back as opposed to the females that doesnt.

you mean that the males dorsel comes to a point and the females are more rounded at the tip right?

Not at 2 inches you cant which he was looking for Lol.

Even at 6inches it can be hard depending how they have been kept. Not everyone keeps there fish looking great with full fin extensions.

I have heard that the males have a brighter red line on their dorsal fin. Not sure how true this is. Mine is a female, I think, from everything I have been able to find about sexing them. She is about 6 inches long right now. Shorter more rounded fins and lighter red line along her dorsal fin.

Those are true from everything I've heard, but we just need to figure out a concensous decision on about what age or size these attributes come to fruition.
