I have a tank measuring 40Lx12Dx15H inches. It has 7 guppies(2 of which are fancy males, 1 is short finned and the rest are female) and 2 platies in there at the moment. I realise that having guppies in particular will somewhat limit what fish i can now add. Originally I kept my Paradise fish with them which worked perfectly until I added the two fancies; he really didn't like their fins. So he's now with my Rosey Barbs.
However I was thinking of adding another fish species- in particular I really like labyrith fish so I was wondering is there any that could be compatable with the Platies and guppies? I know it can't be garanteed due to personalities and such but just some where to start.
Prefurably something on the smaller side but not the Dwarf gourami's- I don't like the idea of pontentially ending up with an uncurable desiese or a sickly fish.
I also plan on only buying the one if that makes a differance (though if they do better in groups I will buy a group)
At the moment the tank is quite bare with very little in the way of hiding places but I will build the tank up to suit any other fish I get in the way of floating plants, hiding places and anything else it may need to be more comfortable.
Also are females likley to be more peaceful than males?
