as you can see quite a difference.

so the question is
are there any fry inside the cave?, only time will tell.

haha, they made a pretty good fort for themselves! :p

I'm pretty sure they are breeding, congrats

Thats a very good sign! Nice, and i hope there are some fry in there for ya Wolf! :)

It would be nice if they are breeding/have bred
but I just think its cool they decided to do some aquascaping of their own :D

I have fry! I've counted 14 normal colured ones and about 10 albinos, so far.

when do I seperate the fry from the parents? :dunno:

woo!Cobgrats Wolf, that's awesome!

you can leave them with the parents for aslong as you like, you can take them out anytime.
what other tank mates are they with?
the parents will guard the fry from any other fish, so it should be fine. The fry will feed off their yolk sacks for 3-4 days, after that they will become free swimming, then you feed them BBS and curshed flakes etc.

so to answer your question, you can take them out anytime you like :)

here are some pics; as you can see they are free swiming

I've made this one pinkish so the fry (in the plant) stand out more

So DD it is ok to leave the parents and fry together? what about territorial issuse?
they are in with danios, and khulies as bottom dwellers.
The male is always chasing off the khulies

nice pics wolf

Is there any chance of you deviding or moving the parents and fry to another tank?
it doesnt really matter as the parents willg uard the fry,but with bottom dwellers, it might cause some stress for the parents,
but other then that, they should be fine with having the fry in the tank

As long as they're swimming and appear to be eating you can separate them .

The adults may continue to raise them , but should they decide to breed again [ it happens ] the fry you now have may become a threat , then food .

Fry are awesome , aren't they ? Good luck raising them up :)

I have several small tanks that could be used to raise the fry
with that in mind i'm setting up a small air powered filter
ready for the move.

man this is almost as good as raising danio fry :flex:

Try a sponge filter if you can , small fry can possibly be sucked into the plastic media filled filters .

Cichlid fry are the best ;)

Agreed with Lucky
I recomend the sponge filter brand, Hydro-Sponge, works perfect for fry and better then most sponge filters out there.

I have to have some days off :p
I'll be in all wekend if you are comming in

ok all my fry dissapeared last week :(
I have just done a water change and a small rearragement of the tank
I found krib eggs on the cave roof  .
I guess this is why the fry have dissapeared.
This time once they have hatched I'll remove the cave so they don't get the urge to spawn again.
