Their looking fantastic, love these fish and your getting a nice family their now.

Lovely looking fish.

I've been keeping these humpbacked limias for a while, and have found them to be remarkably good aquarium fish. So I've been pushing them in various magazine articles, in the hope more retailers stock them and more hobbyists try them. They have a nice balance of size, colour, unusual body shape (in the males) and overall hardiness. They are excellent algae eaters, but seem to exhibit little to no predatory instinct, ignoring both newborn fry and baby cherry shrimps.

Compared with other common livebearers, they do seem rather peaceful too. Males chase one another to be sure, but nothing like so aggressively as swordtails or mollies. Wild fish apparently forming schools, and this may have something to do with this. I'm also impressed with their water chemistry tolerances; although said to be commonest in brackish water habitats, mine have done just fine in moderately hard, slightly basic water made from 50/50 rainwater and tap water.

At the moment I consider these the best community tank livebearers around!

Cheers, Neale
