Hi everyone,

In a little hole the size of a pin head on my live rock there is a worm hanging out about 3 inches and flowing in the current. It is a white transparent color and is very thin. It basically looks like a strand of fishing line 3 lb. test. It is creaping all over the rocks and pulls in when a crab comes near.

Is this all part of the biological system on the rocks or should I kill it?

Also, in addition, I have noticed that there is grey piles of crap on the rocks all over the tank. They look like worm castings but they are too big for this worm. Does anyone know what those could be? It looks like ash but tubular and maybe each piece is a millimeter or two long.

Thanks

He says its thin, so I'd say spaghetti worm, also harmless

Thanks Ski. I spent a little time on google with Spagettii worm and sure enough, I think that is what it is.

Do you think that I should remove it from my tank?

Also, I noticed that you are from NY. Do you attend the Manhattan Reef shows? I am planning on going to the NJ reef show on October 29. Do you attend any of these?

Well, with Manhattan ~350 miles away from my house and the cost of my first born son to fill my gas tank, not really ;)

I'd leave the spaghetti worm, they're harmless

Hehe I got a similar comment at work today. Talking to a client he said, "oh you guys are based in NY...I'm going to be in New York City in 2 weeks I'll take you out for a drink." I had to explain that Buffalo is as far away from NYC as you can get while still being in the state. Hehehe.

Hahaha, yeah I get that a lot too. A vendor we deal with down in Texas did the same thing to me. He's like, oh I'm gonna be in NYC, maybe I can schedule a trip to your place to show you some of our new products. I told him if he wants to do the 7 hour car trip one way, he's more than welcome
