Long-finned Daino With Kink In Spine

It's happened during the last week he has gotten skinny has a hunched back and a kink in his spine. All the other fish are fine. He was one of my first fish and he went through a cycle cuz i didn't know any thing about fish at that time. I've had him for a year but he was full grown when i got him. So do you think it is old age or something else?

This really sounds like fish TB. Some of the trademark symptoms of it are a bent spine and the fish loosing weight. It is very difficult to treat, but should be done in isolation since it is contagious and very lethal. Minocycline can be effective.

be sure to wear gloves as fish TB can infect humans leadig to a nasty skin infection

Issolate him immediately, fish tb go skinny, and get a bent spine.

vitamin defficiencies also have the same symptoms.

If it were a vitimin deficiency, i would expect to see issues with more than one fish. Also, it wouldn't explain the weight loss.

Ok, i've removed him from the tank and put him in a little cup. My quarintine tank has fish in it so i can't put him in there. I would really hate to do it , but should i euthanize him?

If you are going to have to keep him in a small cup, i would euthanize him. Keeping him in a small space will add to his stress, and waste will build up pretty quickly.

do some water changes, and keep a close eye on the tank for any one else who may be getting sick. if any others get this, i'd treat everyone with maracyn 2
