Lonely Oscar

Iv had 2 red tiger oscars from about 2" now theyve grown to 12" had them 4 years and they did everything together. 1 of the oscars developed hole in the head a few months ago, iv been treating it with nearly everything possible to come down this morning to find him dead... I would like to no if the other1 will be lonely by its self? people state that fish havent got a good memoary but my oscars do, they now who i am without fail. Would i be able to put another oscar in with the 1 iv got or would they fight?

What size is your tank and what how often do you do water changes?
I'm asking this because HITH usually appears when fish are kept in poor qaulity water.I'm not try to pick on you, it may be something completely different which has caused it.
I got my oscar over a year ago upon purchasing a tank, he was kept in disgustingly filthy water.When I got him he had severe HITH issues, I treated with a water change every couple of days or so with meth blue and it eventually died off.He still has the scars and is stunted from his ordeal, but he's still going strong.

He may sulk, see how it goes.Be sure to rid the tank of the disease before purchasing a new oscar.There is no point buying another one only for it to sucumb to HITH.
