hey guys,

my girlfriend has a small tank with one angelfish and a rainbow shark -
ive aquired a larger tank and will be setting it up and adding axtra fish -

would the angel be ok on its own? or should i get a few more angel fish to add with it?

the new tank will have a few platys - block mollys - zebra danios - and i was thinking of about 9 to 12 mix of tiger barbs and albino - green barbs aswel.
possibly two more angels if you think its a good idea.

the tank will well planted and have lots of hiding places. so might get some tetra aswel?

any ideas you guys have i will take on board so please all comments welcome?

How big is the small tank? Without knowing the size its hard to recommend fish for it.

As a general rule angels prefer not to be lone fish...

i'll be putting her angel in the new bigger tank 4 foot long.
with all the other fish i mentioned. this is why i was asking if i should buy more angels to
go with it?
so you think i should get more angels?
the reason i ask is she told me she originaly had two in her tank but one was bullied alot and
eventually died?
ive never kept angels before so was wodering if this is normal behavour? or a one off thing?

Your mixing peaceful with semi-aggressive fish...

yeah ive kept tiger barbs in the past - probably my favourite fish -
ive never had any problems with them as ive kept them large schools.
if i could have my way the tank would only consist of them..

but i want to add some colour and variety and mollys and platys are active fish.

so the main question is will the angel be ok on its own mixed with other
fish or should i get more - been reading in this forum since ive wrote the post
and the angel seem worse if they pair off -

preferrably i like to keep it on it own, but not if it will feel unsafe in the tank
around the other fish.

I think the Angel would be fine by itself. Pretty much all Cichlids are somewhat territorial, so it would probably enjoy it more not having to share the tank with others. The only way you would be sure to have two Angels that get along is if they were a pair.

Also you should watch the Tigers around the the Angel REAL closely, as they can be real nippy and attracted the Angels long fins.
