I'm travelling from Watford to SE15 (Peckham) to have a look at and *fingers crossed* pick up a new tank and fish from another forum member tomorrow.
Travelling at 1230-1400 on a Saturday afternoon, which would be the best route?

1. M1 into London, A41 through St Johns Wood, onto the A202 to Peckham
2. M1 into London, onto the north circular, onto the A4 through Hammersmith, through Chelsea to Pimlico, across the river there then straight down the A202 to Peckham
3. M25 to M4, M4 to A4, then as the route above
4. M25 to J10, onto the A3, follow the A3 to A202, few mins on the A202 to Peckham

I try to avoid driving into London (especially on the weekend) so I haven't got a clue which would be the best route. I'm thinking options 1 or 4 are the most likely - 1 because its direct (though means slogging from NW London to SW London), 4 because its simple (and if the A3 is national speed limit, probably quicker.)

Could really use some local knowledge though, can anybody help me out?

hey tenofive,

Spoke to OH he said another route to consider is m25 towards dartford tunnel, through the tunnel, turn right onto the A2, at junction 2 of the M25, and then the A2 will take you right up to peckham. You dont have to go right through London with that one.

It is a long way round, but could work out quicker.

Route 1 is a long way through london and you could spend hours stuck in traffic.

Route 2 you still got a lot of going right through the middle of london even though its a more direct route.

Route 3 same as above.

Route 4 would be the one he would choose.

Dont know if that helps dont realy understand a word of it. He says from here (stevenage)he would do his one, but then he gets the right hump sitting in traffic.

Good luck with the journey. Fingers crossed its worth it.

Thats given me something to think about...I've been down to the Dartford Tunnel a couple of times and the 25 is generally pretty clear...and from where you are, its only about 10 mins on the M25 for me (to South Mimms anyway.)

Thanks, and thank your other half for me.

Okay, its a toss up between anti clockwise round the M25, then A3 in or clockwise round the M25 and A20 in.

Any thoughts?

Your welcome anytime.

have a safe journey and hope its worth it.

p.s OH is not really fishy think he just tolerates my hobby because its mine (like me with his vehicles), so think he was glad to help for a change.
