how strangely do people look at you whilst using london transport whilst carrying a 8gallon tank?

VERY is the answer!

however i just got a small 8 gallon for £6, and also two fluval 1's chucked in....i bloody love ebay  however there is no hood! so that's another £10 gone! not a bad deal all in i thought

however, the fluval 1's box says it's for tanks that are 12", but my tank is 18" long...would it be pheasable to use the two fluval 1's Or would it be better to get a few pennies for the fluval 1's and purchase a fluval 2?

i plan to use the tank for a small amount of tetra's IF i can get it set up/planted nicely (the tank i currently have was already set up, we just had to move it to our flat so this is my first time starting a tank!).

what factors would i need to take into account being this is a small tank? (cycling need not be mentioned, i've got the hint from reading other peoples questions)

cheers team

i've been bored so i made up a list of things i need to do, buy and look into.

already got:
-tank 18"x10"x10"
-100w heater
-70l capacity filter(nicely over filtered)
-air pump
-thermometer
-syphon
-and a bucket full of dreams :p

do:
make background

buy:
black sand, nitrite kit, ammonia kit, ammonia, filter inserts, bogwood, hood, light, c02 dispenser

look into:
-plants and placement of plants (can do myself-easy)
-whether c02 dispenser would be worthwhile in 8gallon planted tank(i'm of the opinion "yes", but i'd like some feedback ta)
-lighting for 8gallon (should be easy but i'm nervous and don't like wasting money as i've got fish and a mrs! haw haw haw)
-is a filter that copes with 18gallon tanks going to be too much filtration or is there no such thing?
-should this be in the beginners bit?

any help will be gratefully received!

About the filter, as long as the current is not like a river in the grand canion, I think it'll be ok.
You can barly ever over filter..
