Our local water comes from area water sources which I guess is the case for most municipalities that are not on well water.

I remember reading signs posted along the TN River saying pregnant women and children should not eat the fish from the waters and for other people to only eat one a month. I don't know what heavy metals were in these fish, but does it make sense then that our aquarium fish could get build up too?

I put dechlorinator in my water before using it and it is supposed to bind metals to make them not dangerous to the fish. Do you guys believe this? And does water treatement at the plant get rid of any of these metals so by the time it comes out of the tap, it is in better shape?

Thoughts, please!

Any water safe enough for you to drink should be safe enough for your "usual" fish once treated with conditioner. Discus etc will of course need better water quality.
Exactly.
There are a couple lakes around here that you can only eat a small ammount of fish out of them because of all the mining that went on around here and all the stuff that has washed into the lakes.
