Will clown loaches harass my angel fish, ive got 5 angels and was thinking of getting 2 clown loaches as ive been told they are good a getting rid of snails,i also have 2 bristlenose plecs 3 guppies 6 neon tetras and 6 cardinal tetras.

i have 4 clowns and 2 small angels and larger ones in the past and they have never bothered them, in fact i find clown loaches dont really take any notice of other fish, theyre too busy playing around with each other as they like being in groups as you may or may not know.

I agree with the above reply they need to be kept in groups so two no good.
Also they need large tanks no less than a 75 gallon.

I have Clown Loaches in with Angels and they are fine. They are very lively and colourful, however they can grow up to 10inches long!! They can burrow into sand (if u have it) and occasionally play-act as being dead.
They also make 'click-click' noises at night and they eat anything I put in (including Bloodworm, Flakes, TetraPrima, Catfish pelletts...)

They seem fine as a pair, but I would always have at least two in tank.

Enjoy.

As said before>C.Loaches will be great. By the way, I have previous instances of groups of Neons/ Cardinals causing death to the other> until only Cardinals are left. My friend had the same trouble and an 'expert' shop-guy told us that they will take out the Neons one-by-one/ vice-versa.

If you do find this happening, please could u let me know> and if I was you maybe decide which ones to keep....(I prefer Cardinals but wouldn't want your Neons to all be taken out by them.)

You havent said how many gallons your tank is.

If your tank cant support a 10 inch fish, you can also get zebra loaches or dwarf chain loaches they're take care of any snail problems

I also have 2 clown loaches with two angel fish and the loaches leave the angel fish alone. My clown loach likes to rest on my water filter and the first time I saw him do this I freaked out because I though he was dead, but he does it all the time so I don't worry anymore.

My tank is 29 gallon and I will upgrade to a bigger tank as soon as I can.
2 clown loaches
2 angel fish
3 dwarf puffers
1 powder blue gourami
1 kissing gourami
2 bala sharks

you need a VERY big tank for 6 loaches, 3 would be ok i would think unless your tank is massive of course.

Your tanks overstocked I would research the fish before you buy them.
The clown loaches and bala sharks need 90 gallon tanks.

If you are just looking for snail removal for a community tank, your best bet would be Y. sidthimunki (dwarf chain) or B. striata (zebra loach) for the majority of tanks.

B. kubotai or yoyo loaches will also work well.

None of them reach more than 1/2 the size of a full grown clown loach and will do well in a group in a 55 gal tank (or smaller for Y. sidthimunki or B. striata).
