i work at pets at home at the moment, and we sell alot of loaches. they dont have a scientific name for them, just that they are algae eaters and get to 15cm.
they are often sold to people with goldfish tanks , um really tiny ones!

ive read on here loads that chinese algae eaters can get really aggressive, how do u tell if they are them? we have browny coloured ones, and golden coloured ones being sold. if any of them are chinese algae eaters should i inform them not to buy them anymore?
up to date ive not met any customers who know much about fish, so its not like we;re going to get an expert come in to buy one, they are just going to any one who wants one.

Have you thought of google imaging chinese algae eaters? This should give you some pictures which you can compare. Or ask your fish department manager.

CAEs have sucker mouths, that should discriminate between CAEs and pretty much every loach I am familiar with (though that certainly cannot be all loaches!).
