Hi - my zebra loaches top fin has been eaten off by a polka dot loach. Any ideas why - i am sure that I feed them enough.

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Did you seen the loach do it.
Are you sure its not bacterial finrot.
Any white, pink or red edging to fins.
Do fins look cloudy or transparant.
Are fins fraying or falling apart.
Any red streaking in fins.
Any holes in fins.
Anything sharp in the tank that could of caused fin damage.

Hello! Tank is 180ltr with 1 gourami, 3 rainbow, 2 GB rams, 10 neons, 1 platy, 1 mollie, 2 USD catfish, 1 pakistani, 1 zebra and 1 polka dot loach. Been setup 6 months with no major problems. Water stats ok temp 25, not sure on ph though.

The top fin is completely gone - the base of the fin was does have a white edge. The other fins are ok on him and all other fish. I saw the polka dot loach chasing him this morning and biting at the base of where the fin was, so don't know if it actually bit it off or started doing this after the fin had already gone. Have seen the mollie chasing the zebra loach before though so could he also be responsible?

Thanks for the help!

I would issolate him and use a bacterial med as it sounds infected.

If the loach is attacking him you will have to rehome one of them.
