Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior):

My black Khuli loach (pangio javanicius [sp?]) has a bump about 4 mm long and 2mm wide on his bottom right side shortly after the front fins, it is the same color as the surronding skin but there are 2 red spots in the middle of it. He's just as active as the other loaches and it dosn't seem to be bothering him but I don't think it's normal.

Volume and Frequency of water changes:
approximately 25-50% each week, I was doing a water change when I noticed the problem.

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:
the usually stress coat and I added melafix because someone had niped off a piece of my oto's back fin

Tank inhabitants:
4 black khuli loaches, 4 male guppys, 1 otocinclus, 1-2 amano shrimp, 1 African dwarf frog

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration):
The loach in question was added about a week ago along with a guppy and 2 dwarf frogs(one of which passed away shortly after :rip: )

Exposure to chemicals:
nothing I know of besides stress coat and melafix.

He's currently in a bucket with a tiny java fern and some mature media.

Please Help Percival! :thanks:

If there two reds spots in the middle of tthe lump it sounds bacterial.
The lump does it look like its filled with fluid.

It might... I'm not sure what it would look like if it was :dunno:

Does lump look hard.
He shouldnt be in the bucket if you don't have a heater in there or airstone.
I would put him back in the tank.
I would treat the tank with a bacterial med with the red spots.
Medicated food would be better if the fish is still eating.
If use medicated food don't add the med as you will overdose on meds.

Would melafix work, as that's the only medication I have?

No, its only good on cuts and wounds.
What your location.
Is it possible to load a pic up of the sick fish.

I'm located in the southern tier region of New York

I tried to get a picture of him but our camera is terrible for fish pictures

he's less active than the other loaches

Hows the fish today.

The skin is peeling off of the infected area and exposing a red area beneath, he's also hiding more than usual.

Unfortunately I doubt I'll be able to get medicine any sooner than next weekend

He won't make it he sound in a bad way.
Does the red look like bleeding beneath the skin.
