Hi, first timer here. I am very new to the hobby, and have followed instructions regarding set ups. I have a 30 gallon, with a biowheel that I am upgrading. I will be using a Fluval 205vnext week and am looking forward to the canister difference. My problem isnt related to filtration, but aeration. I have a small spotted loach that used to play alot, and was very active in the tank. In the last few days, he/she has stopped being so active, and has even lost body size (at least he looks thinner to me). He stays in the aeration now. I use a bubble stone appx 5 inches long, and square in shape. The stone is under a 'reef' like tank decoration. It is like he is depending on the bubbles. I am having no other poroblems with any of my other fish. I have two spotted loaches, and the bigger one is acting fine. Can anyone tell me what is going on?
Thanks y'all...

have you tested your tanks Ph/Ammonia/Nitrite/Nitrate? Also has your tank been cycled and if not I take it your doing a Fish in cycle. Some more info would be helpful.

I agree need to know water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
How long has the tank been set up.
How many fish and which type.
How skinny is the loach is he extremely skinny, is his tummy sunken in, is he still eating.

Ph is 7.2 but ammonia is high at 6-7. I have used amquel to lower it. I have done three water changes due to the high ammonia. The other fish I have include...5 Tiger barbs, 7 neon tetras, 1 bala shark, 1 rainbow shark, 1 catfish, and 1 pleco. Water temp is 76.2. I have great aeration, but like I said, my filtration isnt what it will be next week. I am doubting that my tank has fully reached it's full cycle. This morning I am seeing my pleco staying in the bubbles too. Any help is appraciated, as I think I am in trouble here. Thanks alot (Nitrate and Nitrite are fine)

Your tank fairly stocked.
Bala sharks need 90 gallons tanks and shouldn't be kept on there own they need to be in groups of no less than 3.
Did you add all the fish at once.
All you can do is water changes and increase aeration in the tank.
I would rehome the bala shark as the tanks way to small.
Rainbow sharks really need 40 gallon tanks.
As for the loach is probably due to the bad water quality, is he eating.
