I have set up my tank again after about 15 years in the attic, and bought my first Mollies about three weeks ago. Seem to have got it right as they have produced their first babies last Saturday. With their little guppy friends, and going on at this rate I could have a tank full of children. Can fish interbreed, or what do most people do with them. Managed to rescue 8 Dalmatian Mollies from my 4` tank. Any help would be much appreciated as I am a complete novice here.

Hi Suki,
First of all, welcome.
I am new at this too and have the same problem as you, I think from reading other posts some people try to exchange them at the local fish store for credit, others rely on most of the fry getting eaten by the parents or other fish. The first fry the adults had are reaching maturity now so the problem is going to get worse! lol
i bought some Angels at the weekend as I read that they were good for keeping the numbers down, they are in quarantine at the mo but i'll let you know if it works.

Yeah Buying some Angels do eat the fry. But if the parents don't bother to eat the fry as you said you can try taking them to the store for store credit. I doubt they will take them at such a young age. Try asking them while there young before you actually bag them and showing them, it'll put too much stress on them especially since their fry. If you have a good batch try bidding it off on aquabid or ebay that COULD help...But people wont buy them if there not rare or doesnt have a clean color like all red or all pink ... One of my female guppies has 5 diffrent color spots and a tiger colored back fin... :D . Tiger Barbs with also eat your fry if you dont want them, even bettas could eat them. Hope you pick the right choice. ;)
