uStream 220 Gallon Aquarium

So, I'm trying my hand at live streaming my tank. It will be streaming until 10pm EST tonight when I turn off the tank lights.

Just trying it out with my laptop, my wife wants a permanent computer in the basement so she can skype her mom while she smokes. I thought maybe if I could stream the tank it would be worthwhile, so I can watch it from my living room. Like I'm doing right now. I assume with an actual HD camera I'll get a better picture than I am right now with the laptop's built in cam.

Not much going on because there are only 11 black shirt tetras in there. I added that bacteria in a bottle before adding the fish, but it didn't cycle overnight at all. Once it has cycled completely, I will add my 5 bala sharks that are currently in my 55 aquarium (they're small now) and eventually some clown loaches and various barbs, etc.

I used that bacteria in a bottle because I didn't want to jack any media from my other tanks. Both my 55s only have 1 filter each and they need all the media that's in there, I'm sure.

I have an Aquaclear 70 on a 35 gallon tank with a tetra whisper 45, used to house a ryukin goldfish that died, but after the goldfish died I only had 1 apple snail in there for a couple of weeks, so the bacteria in the media may have died. I'm not sure the media from the Aquaclear 70 would be enough to put a dent in the 220 anyway.

In the future, it might be a good idea to add an extra bag of ceramic rings or other type of bio media to your existing setups so that you can use it to instantly cycle a new tank (be it a hospital tank, and just a new tank).

If you don't mind my asking, which bottled type did you use?

It was just the Big Al's store brand. Last tank I used the Tetra one, which is way pricier and didn't do anything.

You could have safely removed 1/5th of the mature media without causing any issues to the existing setups. This would have had far more benefit than anything you can buy in a bottle.

I found a deal for a ten gallon tank with filter, heater and lights and a 20 gallon with 2 filters, heater and lights + stand for $60 CAD for all of it. If it's still available, I'll add media from my other tanks to them.
