Live Rock???

I would like to make my 30 Gallon tank into a marine tank. I was thinking of Live Rock and Live sand but i know nothing about live rock. How much lighting and water current do i need??? How many lbs for a 30 gallon yank?? Any other info i need???

I would get at least this much more if you are doing reef stuff.

(only need to get one very nice rock from an LFS if you have other rocks youcan seed with it... of course that will take much more time to cycle the tank)

Remember because LR will be your filter... the more water you have pumping fast in and out of them the more filteration you have... also the stuff comming in will die be consumed at massive rates... then that will die off ... and that will be consumed at massive rates... usually a few spikes before things become more stable... so the first time your chemistry gets good doesnt mean its broken in.
 
Lighting is really up to you. Are you going to be getting corals and other invertebrates? If so, you'll need at least 3-4 watts per gallon. If you're going for a fish-only, you'll only need 1-2 watts per gallon. :fish:
