Live Plants

Hi all,
Is it possible to get a large shipment of plants and keep them in tank water taken from my tanks for a few weeks until i move house and set up my new tank which they are for.would it be better to buy some gravel to put in the tub with them some are potted and some not and a selesction of mosses.i will add some plant food each week for them ?
can you tell me if this would work or not please.Many thanks ,
