I've just started this fantastic hobby, and have had my tank running for 2 weeks, i've got a juwel rekord 800, 80x35x40cm 110ltrs approx 24.5 gallons. i have got 2x baloon mollies, 2x black neons, 5x lemon tetras and 6 platties, for the base i have just got gravel, the lights in the hood are an 18watt day lite and an 18 watt warm lite, i really want to put live plants into the tank, with the minimum of effort for the time being, what plants can i put in and would i need to change my lights? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx
Mark.

Hi,

The easiest plants to grow are java fern, java moss and anubis they all need to be tied to something eg drift wood not buried in the substrate and they all seem to do well with standard lights.

Other plants which have done well in my tanks are vallis and crypts i just have the standard lights and play sand substrate and they have huge root systems.

Emma :)
