will live plants be able to grow in a 2.5 mini bow? I dont use the filter.

Sure, but it depends on the plants.

I have java moss, java fern, crypts, and anubiases growing very slowly in an unlighted bowl.

If you have a light, sure it will. Depends on the plant, and your gravel. But it's simple to have a plant and have it grow.
