Live Plants Vs Fake Plants

hello

my tank has been up and running for about 6 months now and i would like to add and change from fake to real plants. anybody who can help me out and lead me in the right direction would me much appreciated. any specific plants for my fish? how many at a time? can this affect my tank in any way? etc....
